Organizations That Want to Apply a Food Safety Management System

ISO 22000:2005 the global Standard for food safety management systems is now receiving moreand more worldwide recognition. ISO 22000, is supported by ISO / TS 22004:2005, Food safety management systems steering on the appliance of ISO 22000:2005, which supplies counseling for all sorts of organization within the food supply chain. These range from feed providers, first producers, food manufacturers, storage and transport operators, retail and food service outlets, producers of kit, packaging material, cleansing agents, additives and ingredients.

ISO 22000 was built to work in harmony with ISO 9001:2000 for quality management systems including the concept of continual improvement. This allows an organization to integrate its own food safety management system with similar management systems and create a food safety management system that follows ISO 22000.

ISO 22000 wants for a food safety management system includes a requirement to implement the Codex hazard analysis and Critical Control Point ( HACCP ) system for food cleanliness. ISO 22000 is also now complimented by Technical design TS ISO 22002:2009 which adds detail to the needs of ISO 22000 Clause 7.2 precondition programs. Prerequisite programmes create the basic food safety conditions and activities that are necessary to maintain a hygienic workplace throughout the food chain thatis suitable for the production, handling and provision of safe end products and safe food for people to eat. TS ISO 22002 complements ISO 22000 by providing a collection of 18 precondition programmes to be used by food manufacturers

TS ISO 220002 and ISO 22000 are both included in the FSSC 22000 food safety management system authentication scheme which has received conditional approval from GFSI. FSSC 22000 is specific for food manufacturers. ISO 22000 is a helpful to standard for food safety management systems needs based totally on the HACCP guidelines but because the FSSC 22000 scheme includes TS ISO 22002 it has detailed needs for prerequisite programs. The FSSC food safety management system ratification scheme was brought out on 15 May 2009 and has been provisionally authorized against the requirements laid out in the GFSI steering Document Version 5.

The global Food Safety Initiative ( GFSI ), which is an influential group of 650 retailer, producer and food service corporations, as well as service providers associated with the food supply chain from more than 70 different states. GFSI keeps a benchmarking process for food safety management system certification scheme requirements. The global Food Safety Initiative recognizes five producing schemes BRC world Standard Version five, Dutch HACCP ( Option B ), FSSC 22000 ( Conditional Recognition ), Global Red meat Standard Version 3, global Food Standard Version 5 and SQF 2000 Level 2.
